Tasty Fruit Crumble

A SIMPLE APPLE CRUMBLE FOR THOSE AUTUMNAL DAYS

Place the flour, brown sugar, oats, spices and salt into a large mixing bowl. Add in the cubed butter and rub in with your fingertips until a breadcrumb style mixture is achieved. Stir in the walnuts and set aside.

In a small bowl, mix together 1 tbsp of the caster sugar, cornflour and lemon juice. In a further small bowl combine the remaining sugar and the spices.

Place the prepared apples into the Crock-Pot Slow Cooker pot in layers, sprinkling the flavoured sugar between and pour over the cornflour mixture.

Top with the crumble, cover and cook on high for 3 hours or low for 4-5 hours, until the apples are tender.

Once the cooking time has elapsed, partially uncover the slow cooker for approx 1 hour to allow the crumble topping to firm.
Serve with hot creamy custard or vanilla ice cream or both!
